What motivated you to begin exploring the use of artificial intelligence in your productions?

“My motivation has always been evolution. From my perspective, human creativity is in constant reinvention, and AI is a natural extension of that process” For years, EmiGdio  followed developments in AI, recognizing its potential impact. The arrival of Generative AI marked a turning point, prompting him to explore AI deeply as a tool to enhance storytelling.

How has AI transformed your creative process? Has it allowed you to approach storytelling differently?

AI has not only altered Emigdio’s creative process but expanded his imagination: “Now, we have the ability to quickly prototype ideas, experiment with alternative visual styles, and explore concepts in parallel—something that used to take weeks.” For the director, AI enriches storytelling by providing opportunities to explore complex and symbolic narratives, making the creative journey as significant as the final product.

What AI tools or technologies are you currently using in your projects, and how do they impact the different phases of production, from pre-production to post-production?

Emigdio employs a variety of AI tools throughout the production process: “I use both generative AI tools like Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT, MidJourney, and Runway to explore visual concepts and develop ideas in pre-production, as well as non-generative tools that enhance existing materials. For example, I apply AI for frame interpolation, tracking, rotoscoping, upscaling, and video editing, which optimizes quality in post-production. It’s not just about creating from scratch; it’s also about enhancing and perfecting what’s developed manually” This dual approach—creation from scratch and refinement—brings precision and efficiency to his creative vision.

AI offers the ability to automate many tasks. In which areas of the production process have you noticed the greatest efficiency thanks to its implementation?

AI has revolutionized pre-production and post-production by automating tasks. Visual prototypes and previews, once time-consuming, can now be generated within minutes. This efficiency allows Emigdio to focus more on the creative direction and storytelling, enhancing the quality of pitch decks and visual presentations:  “Now, I can generate much more personalized concepts in minutes. It’s also been a revolution in visualization, where I use AI to illustrate my ideas and improve pitch decks. In these areas, AI accelerates technical processes, leaving more room to focus on creative direction and storytelling”

Regarding teamwork, how is artificial intelligence integrated without replacing the value of creativity and artistic vision?

“I believe AI is a tool for extending creativity, not a replacement. The key is to see AI as a creative assistant that expands possibilities but requires human direction to achieve coherent results. In my projects, we integrate it from conceptualization, decks, and constant training. The creative dialogue remains essential, as it’s what defines the authenticity of each project. “ His projects maintain their unique essence through constant collaboration and clear artistic vision, proving that the human touch remains indispensable.

Implementing AI has presented challenges, including a learning curve and balancing automation with creative control. Emigdio navigates these by co-creating with AI, understanding its limits, and guiding the process toward a clear vision. Looking ahead, he believes AI will lead to more personalized and immersive experiences in audiovisual production. His future projects aim to explore the intersection between technology and storytelling, reflecting on our relationship with innovation and the digital future.
